PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Steelers starting cornerback Cortez Allen underwent minor surgery on his right knee today, the team announced.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin made the statement Friday afternoon at Steelers training camp in Latrobe.

Tomlin said it was a minor surgery, and that the team expects Allen back in a couple weeks.

“We wanted to get the surgery done now so he can begin rehabilitating immediately,” Tomlin said.

The Steelers say the cornerback should suffer no long term effects from the surgery.

Allen has been sitting out for several days now.
