Man Found Lying On Carnegie Road Identified, Autopsy Scheduled

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The man found lying in the middle of a Carnegie road, whose death has been a mystery to officials, has been identified.

Police say the man was 53-year-old Donald Ferrero Jr. of Carnegie.

Ferrero was found early Friday morning around 12:30 a.m. lying on North Bell Avenue, just outside of an extended stay hotel where he was believed to have been living for several months.

After he was found bleeding and unconscious, he was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he later died.

Police have said the circumstances around his death are suspicious, but had few leads as to what happened.

However, they determined that he hadn't been stabbed, shot or beaten.

Police say he could have been hit in a hit-and-run.

An autopsy is scheduled today to determine the cause of his death.

Stay with KDKA for more information.
