Missing Whitehall Woman Found In Florida

WHITEHALL (KDKA) – A family growing more and more concerned for the well-being of a missing Whitehall woman can breathe a little easier tonight.

Police say Beverly Timmins, 78, was found this evening in a hotel room in Wildwood, Fla., which is northwest of Orlando.

Family members said the last time they had heard from Timmins, she said she was lost.

The last 24 hours have been very difficult for Holly Martys, Timmins' daughter.

"I feel so helpless because I don't know what else to do," Martys said.

It was roughly a day before anyone heard from her mother.

"She was talking to my uncle on her cell phone and told him she was lost," Martys said.

At the time of the call she was in Waynesburg, Greene County, after starting her day at a doctor's office in Bethel Park. Her apartment is only three streets away from the doctor.

"We need to contact the bank's legal department to see if she used her debit card anywhere for gas, food, or hotel," Martys said. "We haven't been able to reach her since her cell phone battery died."

KDKA's Lynne Hayes-Freeland Reports:

Martys suspects her mother may be suffering from dementia.

At noon Thursday, word broke that Timmins may have been in Jacksonville, Fla. The family then contacted the state police in Florida.

2 P.M. UPDATE:

According to police, Timmins called her daughter from a 904 area code to say she was in Florida, but does not know how she got there.

Police tracked the call to a rest stop in Nassau County, Fla. Police responded to the rest stop, but could not locate Timmins.

Timmins and her family used to vacation in Clearwater, Fla. Relatives believe that may be where she's heading.

KDKA's Ross Gudotti Reports:

7 P.M. UPDATE:

Police tell KDKA's Lynne Hayes-Freeland that Timmins has been located in a hotel in Wildwood, Fla., and that she is safe.

Her family is going to pick her up and bring her home.
