Purse Snatcher Arrested After High-Speed Chase

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police arrested a man accused of stealing purses at several area grocery stores. However, getting him into custody was not easy.

According to police, the first purse snatching happened at a Shop ‘n Save in Union Township. Then, there was another alleged purse snatching at the Giant Eagle in Shenango. Another one was reported in Neshannock.

Shenango Police spotted the suspect’s vehicle on Route 422 near the Giant Eagle and conducted a traffic stop.

At that point, the suspect fought with police and was Tased. However, he broke loose, hit the gas and took off with police chasing close behind.

He initially lost police in New Castle.

A short time later, they came across the suspect’s vehicle near a bar, where the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.
