WEST END (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a woman was held at knifepoint and robbed during a West End home invasion Monday morning.

According to police, a male suspect made his way into the third-floor apartment of 520 South Main Street.

Once inside, the suspect allegedly terrorized the lone female home at the time.

At one point, the intruder allegedly put a knife to the woman’s throat and demanding cash and valuables.

Sources close to the investigation said the man got away with about $900 cash.

Exactly how the assailant got in is not yet known. However, police said they do know how he escaped.

The man made his way out to the fire escape, ran down the steps and took off into the woods.

Zone Six detectives spoke to the victim as crime scene officers processed the apartment for any and all evidence.

A friend of the victim said that she was shaken up, but was otherwise okay.

No arrests have been made at this time.
