Aramark Looking For More Employees As Hockey Season Approaches

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Aramark is looking for new employees to staff events at Consol Energy Center.

People showed up to earn a little extra pocket change or to be able to satisfy basic needs.

"I need employment, I have to survive," said Darnita McPhail of the Hill District.

Potential employees were hopeful to get the change to on an Aramark uniform.

"I want to work, I want to," said Beverly Brown of Crawford Square. "I've been trying to find something, they say things are getting better, but it's still a little rough."

It takes about 600 Aramark employees to pull off full-scale events at the arena, like a hockey game or concert and while many workers return year in and year out, more are still needed.

"We need to generally hire another 50 t0 100 to get us up to that level," said Aramark General Manager Jim Carter.

So from the kitchen, to the luxury suites, supervisors are looking for willing hands.

"So we have a lot of concession cashiers, concession utility possessions, one in the retail end of it – the majority of it is vendors," said Carter.

"I saw program vendor as a possible position," said Chris Colalella of Aliquippa. "I think I could really do that. I am kind of a people person, I like talking to people."

Carter says many of those at the job fair could be on the job for a hockey game at Consol Energy Center in less than a month.
