PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are on the scene of a fatal crash on southbound Interstate 79.

It happened around 3 p.m. Collier Township near Noblestown Road and the Carnegie exit.

Reportedly a vehicle was crushed under a tractor trailer, a third vehicle was also involved in the accident.

Officials say 69-year-old Mary Jean Contaldo of Carnegie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Contaldo was driving a Chevy Malibu, when she lost control of the car. Police say in her effort to correct her driving, she was hit by a box truck, which then ran into the tractor trailer.

All three cars eventually stopped in the median.

Traffic was also backed up all the way to the Moon Run exit as responders cleared the scene.
