Bouchette Predicts Steelers Season To Be Around .500

PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)-- The Steelers lost their third straight preseason game 26-20 in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. After the game, the team made their first round of cuts.

To talk about everything Steelers, the Fan Morning Show interviewed Pittsburgh Post-Gazette beat writer, and 93.7 The Fan Steelers Insider, Ed Bouchette.

The Steelers' stable of running backs has been bitten by the injury bug. Ed thinks that this season will mirror that of last season where the presumed starter (Le'Veon Bell) will be watching on the sidelines. Ed thinks that Isaac Redman will be the starter with Bell out.

One of the cuts was Baron Batch, and Ed thinks it was a move of respect to let Batch go early, because they think he has a chance to latch on with another team. According to Bouchette, the Steelers wanted him to be a solid contributor to the special teams units, but that just did not pan out. But, a lot of people have not been contributing for the Steelers' special teams units.

As for the final preseason game in Carolina on Thursday night, Ed tells us, "I think you're going to get some long looks at some third-stringers."

Though the Steelers, and Jarvis Jones both said the rookie is okay, "It didn't look good at all," Ed tells us about how Jones left on a gurney. We will have updates on Jones' chest injury on 93.7 The Fan all week long when we receive them.

As for a prediction on the season, Ed thinks the team will be 8-8, 9-7, or 7-9 based on what he has seen in the preseason.
