PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man was arrested late Thursday night after his girlfriend was found shot in the stomach in a North Shore hotel room.
Police say around 3:30 a.m. they responded to a call at the Residence Inn by PNC Park of a woman shot.
On an eighth-floor room they found a 50-year-old woman shot in the abdomen. The woman had been temporarily living in the hotel after her home was burglarized.
In the hotel with her was 67-year-old Billy Long of Larimer and a gun in plain view.
Police say the woman was shot by Long after the couple got into an argument while smoking crack cocaine. They also say they found drugs in the room.
The girlfriend is currently in Allegheny General Hospital in critical, but stable condition.
Long faces charges of aggravated assault, possessing a firearm without a license and unauthorized person to possess a firearm.
Police say he also previously served 10 years in prison for a homicide in Pittsburgh in the late 1980s.
He is currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
