ASPINWALL (KDKA) — Shortly after a massage parlor opened for business in Aspinwall Wednesday morning, it was raided by police and several federal agencies. Now, two people are facing charges.
One by one workers at KC Healthy Massage Therapy on Freeport Road were escorted out in handcuffs, six women and one man.
All, except the man, were questioned by police and later released.
The 48-year-old man out of Chicago, identified as Dongzhou Liu, is listed as the owner of the business and faces several charges including promoting prostitution.
Only one woman charged; she’s identified as 40-year-old Wu Shuangshuang, of Flushing, N.Y.
“She charged with criminal solicitation for prostitution,” said Aspinwall Police Chief John Sabol. “We conducted a undercover operation. There was a proposition made.”
Several agencies were involved in the Wednesday morning raid, including Aspinwall and Allegheny County police, the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“In the past few months, we’ve had complaints from some of the businesses and residents in the area of potential illegal activity,” said Chief Sabol.
A worker at an architectural firm next door said he had a hunch that much more than a one-hour, $30 massage was going on inside the business.
“We see people going in and out all day, and we see the owners and the other females always walking around talking on the phone. It just doesn’t seem like a straight operation,” said Mark Immekus, who works next door.
In 2010, the same building was raided and the business was shut down under different workers and owners.
