Thieves Accused Of Stealing $31K Of Gas In Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) – Police are looking for thieves who have been ripping off gas stations over the past year in Fayette County.

According to police, the Public Works Department reported someone made $31,173.46 in unauthorized gasoline purchases from April 2012 through May 2013.

In 2012, a Fayette County credit card used for fueling a county recycling truck was either lost or stolen.

The credit card was reported lost by an employee but it was never cancelled. Police think that card was used to make unauthorized purchases of more than 9,000 gallons of unleaded and diesel fuel.

It's not known if the suspects are affiliated with Fayette County and police are still investigating.
