Pirates Fans Support Idea Of Big Screen For Playoffs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A local man's idea of having a big screen for Pirates fans to watch potential playoff games is garnering a lot of interest.

Financial specialist David Martin came up with the idea and thinks it just makes sense.

Having a big screen outside of the Consol Energy Center during Penguins playoff games has been such a huge success.

Now, Martin wants the city to have a similar setup for Pirates fans, should the team makes the playoffs.

So, he started a Facebook page and it's gaining momentum. Check it out here!

One person wrote, "I'm voting for a playoff party on the bridge!"

Another wants the big screen in Point State Park, while someone else suggested Stage AE.

Martin thought of the Petersen Events Center, Consol, Heinz Field, Point State Park or the Roberto Clemente Bridge.

A spokesperson from County Executive Rich Fitzgerald's office said they like the idea, but it's really up to the Pirates to get it started. Major League Baseball and the TV networks involved would also have to approve.

Martin is determined to make this happen.

"An outdoor viewing of the Pirates' playoff games would be so cool. There's [going to] be 35,000 people inside. I'd love to see 100,000 people outside." Martin said.
