DeCastro: Bengals Have Strong Front Seven

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Steelers are regrouping after their season-opening loss to the Tennessee Titans. The club will move forward without center Maurkice Pouncey, who was injured in the game.

David DeCastro told The Fan Morning Show what happened on the play.

"We were running outside zone," DeCastro said. "I went down to cut the nose guard and I got a piece of Pouncey as well." DeCastro added that he's not happy about the situation, but that the team has to move on to get ready for the Bengals.

The Steelers signed former Titans center Fernando Velasco on Monday to try to fill the need. Another option could be Kelvin Beachum, who played center after Pouncey was injured. DeCastro said that the team will have confidence in whoever starts.

"He (Velasco) knows how to play football, knows how offenses work," DeCastro said. "Beachum, obviously we're solid with him if they choose him to be the center."

DeCastro looked ahead to Monday's game at the Bengals. DeCastro said that the line will need to have a good week of practice to be on the same page.

"They've got a great defensive line, and athletic backers as well," DeCastro said. "At their place, too, Monday night, it's going to be loud, so we've got to be on our screws."
