Investigation Leads To Firing Of Former Monroeville Police Chief

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The former Monroeville Police Chief is now out of a job after being demoted and put on leave.

Doug Cole was first demoted to Sergeant last February and placed on administrative leave last week.

However, Cole got a letter from Monroeville this week saying he had been fired.

Cole had been at odds with Monroeville officials.

At one point, then-Assistant Chief Steven Pascarella filed a complaint saying private information from emergency dispatchers ended up with unauthorized individuals.

A private investigator was hired this summer and said that unauthorized individuals regularly accessed the information – and that Chief Cole was responsible.

The Department of Health and Human Services will determine if the municipality violated any HIPAA laws.

In addition to Chief Cole, three dispatchers were fired last week.
