Pirates Last Chance Against The Padres

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — After dropping three games in a row to the Padres and only scoring four total runs, the Pirates have one last chance today to avoid a sweep in the four game home series.  The Padres have a history of success at PNC Park winning 14 of the last 15 games and they are 31-10 all-time at the park. As far as the reason behind San Diego's success in Pittsburgh, center fielder Andrew McCutchen says, the Padres must feel at home in Pittsburgh.

"They do come here and they hit well and pitch well and I guess it's just one of those teams that feel good when they play here but we know it's going to be a battle and we just need to show up and go," McCutchen said.

He added that the pitching has been solid but to get a win the Pirates are going to need a boost in the offense. "Our offense has to pick it up a little bit and we got to get going and try and score some runs and score first," McCutchen.

As far as the pitching goes today, McCutchen says he thinks Gerrit Cole can be the guy on the mound to put an end to the losing streak.

"He's always been good for us and he's come out his past few starts and done a real good job, so I know he's going to be ready and be amped up to go and we look forward to him being able to have another good game," McCutchen said.
