Memorial Held For Local Man Killed In Navy Yard Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Friends and relatives gathered tonight at the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School to pay tribute and remember 50-year-old Frank Kohler.

The Zelienople native was one of 12 people fatally wounded last week in that shooting rampage in the Washington, D.C. Naval Yard.

At the Kohler family’s request, the service was private, and the media was not allowed inside the school or on school property during the service.

Kohler was born in Zelienople, and spent all of his formative and adolescent years in the area, graduating from Slippery Rock University in 1985.

His parents and other relatives sill live in the Zelienople area

His brother works for the municipality.
