PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Great Race expo is underway at the convention center and you can really find a little bit of everything.
There are booths filled with running gear, sneakers, t-shirts, sunglasses, special belts and headbands.
If you’re taking part in the Great Race, you can find all the supplies you need, right here.
“What we have are 75 vendors here that are showing their wares to our runners, to our 15,500 runners that are participating in the Great Race,” said Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Tim Ishman.
Runners can pick up their information, shirts and bibs at the expo.
But this event isn’t just for people participating in the race.
There are lots of product samples.
Allegheny Health Network is offering health screenings, like blood pressure checks and body fat percentages.
Plus, there are activities for children.
The folks at one booth are cooking up nutritious dishes, like veggie stir fry, for children to try.
“We’ll also show them a pumpkin pie smoothie that way they can see, you know, we can have pumpkins in a smoothie, it tastes really good, it’s fun and it’s healthy as well,” said Nick Fisher with Kids of Steel.
Plus kids and adults can burn some calories and have a good time testing out trampolines.
And even though runners are having fun, they are still focused on Sunday’s race.
“It’s fantastic, this is my first time running the Great Race,” said Katie Grocott of Monaca. “Actually, I’ve been running for a year and half. This is my first 10K, I ran the Pittsburgh half-marathon and I run 5Ks locally.”
The expo runs until 8 p.m., then 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Admission is free for registered runners/walkers and the general public.
