City, County To Host Rally For Playoff-Bound Pirates

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Ahead of the Pirates' first playoff appearance in 20 years, a rally will be held Monday to get fans fired up for the big Wild Card game.

Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh have declared Monday "Black & Gold Day" and are hosting the Playoff Rally, starting at noon, in Market Square.

Fans are encouraged to wear their black and gold Pirates gear to help cheer on the Buccos against the Cincinnati Reds.

During the rally, there will be Pirates' trivia and prizes along with appearances by the Pirate Parrot and Pirates' team officials.

Music, provided by DJ Soy Sos, and sponsored by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, will begin at 11:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, over at PNC Park, the grounds crew on Sunday was hard at work getting the field ready for Tuesday's game. They painted the post-season logo onto the field.

Game time Tuesday has been set for 8:07 p.m.
