PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man was shot and killed, and the suspect fled after a shooting at a North Side bar.

Pittsburgh police say a man walked inside JR’s Bar on East Ohio Street about 1 a.m., ordered a drink, and then opened fire.

Friends say 46-year-old Donald Lowry of Sheraden was killed in the shooting.

Police say Lowry was standing at the bar, had words with the shooter, and then that suspect shot Lowry as he was trying to run away.

A security guard tried to detain the shooter, but another man intervened and hit him over the head with a beer bottle.

Both men then fled the area.

Lowry was taken to Allegheny General Hospital but died from a gunshot wound to his back.

A second man was also shot in the buttocks during the shooting, he was treated and released from the hospital.

Police are reviewing surveillance video in hopes of arresting the shooter.

The shooter is said to be a somewhat regular at the bar.

He’s described as a black man, 30 to 35 years old, 5’08” tall, 200 lbs, wearing a black hoodie, dark gray pants, and a knit hat.

The second man who hit the security guard with the beer bottle, is described as a black male, 35 years old, 5’07” tall, heavy build, dark complexion, wearing a zippered hoodie, and a baseball cap.
