Cam Heyward Thriving In Third Year, Discusses Biggest Difference For Him

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Since being named one of the starting defensive ends this year, Cam Heyward has taken the bull by the horns and left no doubt that the team made the right decision.

He joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller to talk about the year he's having and what has been the major difference for him.

"My confidence has definitely grown over the years," Heyward said.  "Getting some time to finally play is exciting and I'm just going every game with it."

Heyward has quickly become the leader in a number of stats for the Steelers defense this year and tells us whether or not that's a product of playing more, or his game reaching a new level.

"I think it's luck, being in the right spot at the right time, and of course, more opportunity," Heyward said.  "Having a good rotation like we do, I think we do get a lot of pressures and hurries and I've definitely grown.  I'm not the same rookie that came in, I definitely think my pass rush has gotten a lot better, my hands have and my technique.  Overall, I'm a better player of the years.

Heyward also previewed what it will be like playing against his college teammate this week in Terrelle Pryor, and what was going through his mind when he returned a kickoff last week against the Ravens.
