Woman Arrested Following Mercer Co. Courthouse Bomb Threat
MERCER, Pa. (KDKA/AP) – A woman has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat at the Mercer County Courthouse Monday morning.
An anonymous call came into the courthouse around 9 a.m., which prompted an evacuation of the building. Officials checked the building, but did not find anything suspicious.
A Sharpsville woman has been arrested in connection with the threat after police were able to trace her to multiple calls.
“Technology is definitely our ally now with phone services and things like that,” said Mercer County Sheriff Gary Hartman. “So we were able to trace down the call, multiple calls, and I ended up subsequently arresting her.”
Margie Small of Sharpsville was arrested at her home before noon.
The courthouse reopened around 1 p.m.
The Blair County courthouse in Hollidaysburg received a similar threat by email on Friday. That was determined to be a hoax.
Small is currently in the Mercer County Jail on charges of making terroristic threats and harassment.
