Virgin America Turns To Song, Dance And Rap In New Safety Video

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Airlines have tried various gimmicks over the years to get you to pay attention to their safety instructions, but Virgin America is jazzing up their presentation, literally.

On Friday the carrier will debut a new safety video set entirely to song and dance. The airline tells USA Today that is a first for an airline.

The song features people rapping and singing about safety, a definite spin on how instructions are normally presented on a flight.

Virgin America says their new video will be available fleetwide by mid-November and it's designed to get your attention.

The five-minute video was directed by filmmaker Jon Chu, features music and lyrics created by former American Idol contestant Todrick Hall, and also features several cast members from the TV show "So You Think You Can Dance."

Virgin America's new safety video comes just days after Delta debuted a holiday theme video featuring Santa Claus, Scrooge, The Abominable Snowman, and Alex Trebek.
