KDKA's Dave Crawley Talks About The "Animal Heroes" In His Life

PITTSBURGH (News Radio 1020 KDKA) -- Do you know an animal hero? KDKA-TV's Dave Crawley says he does and talked to Rob Pratte about what he is up to after writing his two books "Cat Poems" and "Dog Poems."

Crawley and his wife Laurel started "Animal Heroes" after Laurel's trip to India where she encountered stray dogs.

They filmed the excursion and it led to a special called "Dogs of India" on WQED.

The two have traveled to many schools, teaching others about the organization's mission.

"The mission is actually to get people to care more about animals as kids, which will make them care about people," says Crawley. "It's kind of an anti-bullying thing as well, it didn't start out that way, but it sort of morphed into that."

Crawley also explained where is love of animals originated and the story of a dog and pot-bellied pig who saved a man's life.
