Local Finance Manager Admits Stealing To Fund $1.5 Mil Gambling Habit

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A finance manager at a local car dealership is accused of embezzling more than $36,000 to feed a gambling habit.

Police say Robert Heiser stole the money in chunks ranging from $1,000 to $11,200, when processing customers' down payments at Century III Chevrolet.

According to the police criminal complaint, Heiser took the money between May and July of this year.

Police also say Heiser admitted to taking the money, which he used on a $1.5 million gambling habit.

After checking his "cash in" records from the Rivers Casino, police say Heiser lost more than $1.5 million between August of 2009 and October of this year, losing thousands of dollars per day – and as much as $175,000 "during the same period."

An arrest warrant was issued for Heiser.
