Larry Foote: ‘I Would Be Surprised If Ben Didn’t Retire As A Steeler’
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote had such a great time joining The Fan Morning Show in studio last week that he came back this week.
Larry said his dad called him as soon as he heard the story about quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the trade rumors and he thought nothing of it until he saw that it was a report of Ian Rapoport. At that point, he thought there might be something to it.
He thinks it’s just a ploy to put the pressure on the Rooney’s to get a new contract done. He says why would he leave? He has everything he needs here.
“I would be surprised if Ben didn’t retire a Steeler,” Foote said. “I’m sure he wants one more ring before he shuts it down.”
Larry thinks he feels that best chance for him to get that ring is to get it done here. He says of course Ben is upset with the way things are going. Everyone is unhappy when you are losing, but he thinks Ben has the power to get things done.
The defense got things done this week after getting embarrassed last week in New England. The Steelers only gave up one late touchdown and a field goal to an offensively challenged Bills team after giving up a franchise record 55 points the previous week.
Foote said the guys took that Patriots game personally and they responded they way he would have expected them to against the Bills. They had their pride at stake.
They will get a much bigger test this week facing a Detroit Lions team lead by quarterback Matt Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
Foote says Johnson is a big man and the key is to just keep your head down when you line up against him. He will put a little fear into those who have to go against him.
“Don’t look at him,” Foote said. “You keep looking at him he will make you pee on yourself.”
