Pens' Craig Adams: Defense Doing Well, Scoring Will Come

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Craig Adams Show makes its debut on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan, as the Penguins forward catches up with Vinnie & Cook.

The Penguins are coming off a 3-1 win over Anaheim that began very slowly for Pittsburgh.

"Before you know it, you look up and ten minutes into it you don't have a shot yet," Adams said. "I don't know when that's ever happened to us before. But you could tell they were playing a tight defensive game in their end. I thought we did a good job of bouncing back from that."

The defense has been solid for the Penguins so far this season, and Adams credits a commitment to that area of the game.

"It's been a focus for us ever since we lost that playoff series against the Flyers," he said. "It's still something we can get better at. For us, being patient is really important."

Still, many Penguins fans are concerned about the lack of scoring the team has experienced for much of the season.

"Scoring goals is tough. But at the same time, it's not just about the last part of the play you see where a guy gets a shot on net. Creating offense can go all the way to your end and how you play defense. There's a lot that goes into scoring chances. I think some games we haven't created many chances, but in a lot of games we have. I don't see that lasting too long with the guys we have," Adams said.

Hear Craig's thoughts on facing the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night and what gifts may await Brian Gibbons after he scored his first NHL goal against the Ducks!
