PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper and Shane Douglas joined The Fan Morning Show in studio Friday to talk about the premiere of their new movie “Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies.”
“Really?” Piper said. “Critics stay away. This one is for the fans!”
Blood, guts and gore, mixed with professional wrestlers and ruthless zombies is the latest action-packed movie bringing together wrestler and zombie enthusiasts across the globe.
Pittsburgh area natives, Cody Knotts and Shane Douglas are the film’s director and producer under their production company, Principalities of Darkness.
Combining the latest zombie craze with the fiercely and ever-popular wrestling obsession was the obvious choice for a movie concept for Douglas, who has been a pro wrestler for over 30 years. Knotts is an avid fan of both trends.
The film features such wrestling stars as Piper, Douglas, Matt Hardy, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Reby Sky, Kurt Angle and more.
“How can you go wrong with Piper, Duggan and Kurt Angle in the same movie? Douglas said. “You can see on screen how much respect these guys have for each other.”
“Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies” centers around a revenge story about a wrestler named Angus who sells his soul to bring back the dead in a plot to destroy Shane Douglas for killing his brother in the ring. The movie was filmed in 16 days in Parkersburg, W. Va. in 5 to 17 degree weather. All wrestlers did their own stunts with only a few minor exceptions.
“There is no message to this,” Piper said. ‘This is just for pure fun.”
General admission tickets to the premiere are $10. VIP tickets are $50, which includes entrance to the pre-party, photos with the stars at the red carpet premiere, preferred seating during the screening, admittance to the after-party with cast and entertainment and other perks for discounted merchandise, autographs and more.
