MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — A man’s death is under investigation after it prompted a Hazmat situation in Westmoreland County.

According to state police, the man’s body was found near his car around 8 a.m. Friday in a parking lot off of Bridgeport Street in Mount Pleasant Township.

Inside his vehicle, investigators say they found a container holding a pesticide agent, which they describe as “highly volatile in a contained area.”

The Westmoreland County Hazmat team was called in for decontamination.

State police say it’s believed the man “either inhaled or ingested” the substance.

Authorities are not identifying the man found dead, but say he’s in his 40s.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy.

The cause and manner of his death remain under investigation.
