East Pittsburgh Post Office Robbed At Gunpoint
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man wearing a mask and gray hooded sweatshirt walked into the post office in East Pittsburgh late Friday, and robbed a clerk at gun point.
Postal Inspector J. Bruce Hammerle told KDKA-TV News, "The clerk was not injured, fortunately, however, is shaken up emotionally."
A surveillance camera outside the Lanigan Funeral Home on Linden Avenue across the street from the post office shows the suspect casually walking up to the post office, and, after a moment or two inside, he leaves, and goes up Linden Avenue, in no particular hurry.
Hammerle said post offices are not robbed very often, and, generally they don't have a lot of money on hand, and [Friday's holdup] is a rare thing.
No shots were fired in the heist.
The suspect was described as a young, light-skinned African American, about 6 feet tall.
Anyone with information is asked to call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455.
