Pittsburghers Preparing For Upcoming Changes In Weather

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – With lots of weather changes predicted in the forecast, Pittsburghers are gearing up.

"I am not ready for the weather at all," said Kathryn Smith of Robinson Township. "I'm trying a four-wheel drive vehicle so I can get along in the snow better."

It rained all day Thursday – and ice, sleet and snow are expected in the next few days as well.

Many were getting ready at the grocery store.

"I'm trying to be ready for it," said Denise Dourlain of Robinson Township. "I was doing some grocery shopping, filling up my gas tank and just getting prepared."

Road conditions may be tough for some drivers to navigate.

However, PennDOT says it's preparing for whatever comes our way.

"We're looking at right around 50 to 60 pieces of equipment during the storm," said Pittsburgh Public Works' Rob Kaczorowski.

Kaczorowski says they've got more than plenty of salt.

However, some say the rain will make it difficult and officials will have to wait for the cold weather to treat the roads.

"When we have rain first," said Angelo Pampena with PennDOT, "it's very difficult, we can't pre-treat the roads."
