Evening Commute Could Be Messy, More Winter Weather Sunday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Meteorologists expect things to get messy for the evening commute.

A mix of precipitation is forecasted to return for the afternoon and evening.

KDKA meteorologist Dennis Bowman says sleet will mix with snow, accumulating to about an inch for the evening rush.

KDKA's John Shumway took to the road to see the current driving conditions.

The high today will be 35, falling to about 25 overnight.

The precipitation will change to all snow for the evening, troublesome snow will total around 4-to-6 inches in the Pittsburgh area, but there is potential for considerably more, up to 8-inches in the northern counties.

Very little snow will fall south of Pittsburgh, generally an inch or less.

Travelers should be prepared for slick roads through the evening hours.

Saturday looks mostly cloudy but cold with a high of 29, falling to 14 overnight into Sunday morning.

On Sunday, another storm will move in, creating a coating of snow for Sunday morning.

Then the precipitation will mix with sleet and freezing rain in the afternoon, before going over to all rain in warmer air, Sunday night and Monday morning.
