VERONA (KDKA) — A home in Verona was damaged by fire Saturday morning.

It started around 10:20 a.m. along Verona Road.

According to fire officials, a woman and her dog were inside when the flames broke out, but they were able to get out safely.

A second-floor bedroom was damaged.

“We were able to contain it and keep it in that corner of the house,” said Chief Dave Sanford, of Penn Hills No. 2.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
