MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) – An accident involving several vehicles in Westmoreland County left one man dead Sunday night.

According to police, the accident happened on Route 22 near Manor Road in Murrysville around 7 p.m.

Brent Caughlan, 21, of Greensburg, hit the back of a PennDOT salt truck, crossed the median and hit three other cars in the oncoming lane.

Caughlan was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“The Audi initially started over here in the eastbound lanes, crossed over up by the stop sign, crossed into the path of two other vehicles that were involved in the crash,” Pennsylvania State Police Sgt. Tim Kusinsky said.

The severity of the injuries suffered by other people involved in the crash is unknown.
