HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) – Police are investigating after an accident left a woman dead and a child injured Sunday night in the Hill District.

According to police, the accident happened on Bigelow Boulevard around 9:15 p.m.

Pittsburgh Police say Nicole Albright was was ejected from the vehicle when it flipped over. Her 2-year-old girl Candence had to be cut from the vehicle and was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital.

Fortunately, the girl was treated and released into the care of her grandmother.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but there were reports of ice in the area.

Friends and co-workers remember Nicole as spunky, with a good attitude.

Bigelow Boulevard reopened around 2 a.m.
