CHARTIERS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person was killed in a Tuesday morning crash in Washington County.

According to emergency dispatchers, the accident happened in the 900-block of Western Avenue in Chartiers Township around 5:30 a.m.

Witnesses said the vehicle was moving in an erratic fashion before crossing the center line and hitting the tree.

According to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, the driver has been identified as John F. Duda, 67, of Coal Center.

Warco said a medical emergency may have caused the crash.

“I don’t believe weather was a condition. From what I’ve been told, it appears it could be some sort of health issue,” Warco said.
