ROSTRAVER (KDKA) — Three people are accused of plotting a murder in Westmoreland County.

It was at Cedar Creek Park in Rostraver that police say the suspects, Kimberly Thompkins, Robert Crosby and Daryith Stevens, allegedly intended to kill Adam Thompkins on Christmas Eve.

KDKA’s Marty Griffin Reports:

Authorities say it was right before noon when Adam Thompkins’ wife Kimberly drove him there.

Neighbors say the two had been having marital troubles, and that Kim was having an affair with Crosby.

“They [were] going out to talk, to work this out, and then he called me from the hospital,” Thompkins’ neighbor said. “He said they [were] there, this car pulls in, two people get out and that’s when it all happened.”

Police say Crosby and Stevens were waiting in another car, got out and attacked Adam Thompkins, stabbing his face and temple on his head.

“Kim’s strange, but I didn’t think she would step that far to do anything to Adam,” the neighbor said.

A park employee saved Adam’s life when he walked by, saw the seriously injured Thompkins and the three accused of planning to kill him.

The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office says the three tried to say Thompkins fell, causing his injuries.

Police later discovered the three had formed a plan at the Burger King where they all worked to kill Adam by slitting his throat, then burning his body and removing his teeth so he couldn’t be identified.

KDKA’s Christine D’Antonio Reports:

When police arrested the three, they had gasoline and pliers.

“They came in on the 23rd and they were talking about it in the first booth, and I don’t know what they were talking about, but they were talking amongst the three of them,” a co-worker said. “Me and my other co-worker, we wouldn’t have suspected anything like that.”

The three are being held in the Westmoreland County Jail and are facing attempted murder charges.

The Thompkins’ three children are staying with family members.
