Gun Store Video Shows Suspect Allegedly Spreading Gun Powder, Sprinkling Accelerant

TUNNELTON (KDKA) -- There are new details one day after a fatal shooting inside an Indiana County gun shop.

The owner of Frank's Gun & Taxidermy shop in Saltsburg was killed. Another man has now been charged with homicide.

In the community of Tunnelton, it's not hard to find a person who knew one of the people involved in the shooting.

Albert Eckenrode, a long-time resident of Saltsburg, is still reeling over the shooting death of Frank Petro and subsequent arrest of Jack Edumundson, who is next door neighbor.

"It's beyond me, beyond me. I don't know. I was just get sick thinking about it," said Eckenrode. "I know both of them. I know both of them."

Eckenrode grew up with Petro. They were both gunsmiths and good friends.

"Everybody liked him because of his personality," said Eckenrode. "You couldn't ask for a nicer guy."

Edmundson, now charged with Petro's murder, saw Eckenrode as more than a neighbor.

"He's been a good guy. He treats me like a dad," said Eckenrode. "He said I'm the closest man he has to a dad."

Edmundson remains in a Pittsburgh hospital. His room guarded by a state trooper.

KDKA has learned videotape from inside Petro's shop reportedly shows Edmundson shooting Petro twice. It also shows the former cop and convicted felon allegedly spreading gun powder inside the shop and sprinkling accelerant.

Despite being shot, Petro reportedly lunged at Edmundson to stop him. Edmundson somehow was shot in the leg. Petro was shot twice more in the neck and face.

"It's a sad state of affairs for everybody," Eckenrode added. "I didn't see it coming."
