PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – The Pirates are currently in the middle of a voluntary minicamp at Pirate City in Brandenton, Fla.

Despite taking his career to a whole new level in 2013, MVP Andrew  McCutchen is taking part in the workouts and took some time out to talk with John Lembo of The Bradenton Herald about the year he had.

In the article,McCutchen discussed the whirlwind that was 2013 from breaking the losing season streak, to making the playoffs to winning the Most Valuable Player award and how this season has almost snuck up on him.  Despite that feeling, McCutchen says he’s ready for the 2014 season because when you’re having this much fun, you can’t wait for it to all start up again.

In the article he wrote on McCutchen, Lembo also spoke with him about being a leader for the younger guys at the minicamp and the workout routine he’ll follow this offseason to try and replicate the success he had last year.

You can read more about the type of player and man McCutchen is in this piece that 93.7 The FAN’s featured columnist Colin Dunlap wrote about him after their interview at PiratesFest in December.
