Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette Dishes On Meeting With Steelers President Art Rooney II

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette met with Steelers President Art Rooney II earlier today to discuss the state of the team, and then he joined Starkey and Mueller to share with the guys what he took from that meeting.

The guys started off asking Bouchette what his biggest takeaway from the meeting was, and he told us there were two things.

"He said he was excited based on the second half of last season for 2014," Bouchette said.

He also shared Rooney's thoughts on the team moving forward.  The second interesting note was that, "it doesn't sound like they're going to extend Ben Roethlisberger's contract this year which is traditional, but it's not a long tradition," Bouchette said.

Although Rooney was willing to discuss Roethlisberger's contract situation, he said he wasn't going to discuss personnel issues, but Bouchette told us there was something to be read into the way he discussed the future of LaMarr Woodley with the Steelers.

"He didn't say anything enthusiastic when he was asked point blank about LaMarr Woodley," Bouchette said.

Things wrapped up with Bouchette talking about the Steelers plans to appeal the league's decision to strip them of a draft pick for Mike Tomlin stepping onto the field during the Ravens game if they follow through with their threat.
