Custom Cars, Hot Rods On Display At World Of Wheels Convention

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- At the World of Wheels Custom Car and Hot Rod Show at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, you'll find hundreds of classic cars, trucks, restored muscle cars, motorcycles and just about anything that has wheels.

Most of the vehicles are customized to either look original or to meet one's specific taste and style.

T.J. Gefert, who owns Innovative Auto Works, showed KDKA some of the work done by his company.

"So, basically, if you want to make your car stand out from everybody else, if you want your truck higher up in the air, we can help you out with that," says Gefert.

That's exactly what he has done with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado truck.

The paint job, rims and graphics were all done at his shop in Wexford.

The work is so detailed even the door jambs have the same color and graphics scheme as the truck.

Work like this can sometimes take weeks or longer. And it would cost a lot of money by most folks standards, but Gefert says there's a budget for everybody.

"You know, we have budgets," said Gefert. "If you want to change up the color of your wheel, we can start off at about $300 and we can take you all the way up to $300,000, depending on what you want."

An Audi R8 that's on display has special low-profile wheels and a custom-painted engine; so does a Porsche and Jeep Wrangler at the show.

"There's no project big or small," says Gefert. "We want to make it like everybody can come here and stand out -- no matter what your price."
