PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – While it looked like Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson would be in the running for the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive coordinator position, a surprise turn of events saw Wilson lose out on that job, but take the running backs coach job with the Minnesota Vikings.

According to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Wilson decided a change of scenery would be best for his career and he decided to move on.

Wilson has been with head coach Mike Tomlin since he took over the Steelers in 2007 and was reportedly in the running for the team’s offensive coordinator position before it was given to Todd Haley.

Wilson suffered life-threatening burns across his body after a house fire in 2012 that pulled him out of the running for the position.

The fallout from Wilson’s departure won’t be known until next season, but the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Wilson got more and more involved with the offense as the Steelers tried to overcome their awful start.

It is not yet known who will replace Wilson.  For developments in this story, keep it tuned to 93-7 The FAN.
