Pizza Delivery Driver Helps Police Nab Carjacking Suspects

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Inomjon Madumarov, 29, a native of Russia who is now living in Pittsburgh, helped police catch two carjacking suspects late Wednesday.

Ironically, it was his car that the teenagers had stolen Tuesday evening.

Madumarov works for the Rivera Pizza & Pasta Parlor on Spring Garden Avenue.

He was making a delivery Tuesday night, when a group of about seven or eight teenage boys carjacked him on Mount Pleasant Road.

One of the boys had a baseball bat, one had a rifle and another had a pistol.

Through a translator, Madumarov - who speaks very little English, having only been in Pittsburgh for about two months - said that he was driving a friend's car earlier Wednesday when he suddenly saw his car cruising in the neighborhood.

He followed it and was able to block it at an intersection near the pizza shop.

The two teens jumped out and he ran after the pair, tackling them before police arrived on the scene.

Police were nearby because they, too, were following the vehicle since it matched the description of the car that was reported stolen Tuesday night.

"I blocked their way," Madumarov said. "They just got out, but I blocked their way."

The two 15-year-olds arrested will be charged as adults.

They're identified as Carl English and Akeyba Sanchez. Both face charges of robbery and criminal conspiracy.

Police are still looking for the other teens involved in the carjacking.
