James Franklin, Coaches & Players Shave Heads To Support Thon

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Since first stepping foot onto the Penn State campus, new head coach James Franklin has done everything he can to endear himself to the fans and show them what he's all about.

With their upcoming Thon fundraiser at Happy Valley, Franklin is once again getting out and helping to support the latest Nittany Lions cause.

According to Joe Hermitt of Pennlive.com, Franklin brought some of his assistant coaches and players to the "No Hair, Don't Care" fundraiser for Thon. Participants pay $10 to get their heads shaved at the event.

The already bald Franklin found an interesting way to help contribute his money as you'll see in the photos taken by Hermitt.

Penn State's Thon has raised more than $101 million benefiting the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State's Hershey Children's Hospital.  According to the Thon website, "the Four Diamonds Fund picks up where insurance leaves off, enabling families to solely focus on care for their child."

On the field, Penn State is making a splash as well according to JC Shurburtt of CBSSports.com as they had a pretty eventful recruiting weekend.  Shurburtt writes that Penn State played host to its first junior day under James Franklin and came out big with three recruits including a four-star defensive end from Maryland.

Stay tuned to 93-7 The FAN for the latest Penn State news and notes both on and off the field.
