PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — An elderly homeowner is recovering after he was assaulted during a late night home invasion.

It happened in Connellsville Township, in Fayette County.

Police were able to solve the crime quickly, however, when they followed some footprints in the fresh snow.

Lisa Gasperi was at her home with her 79-year-old father, Caesar, an Italian immigrant who moved to America 45 years ago.

Three masked teenagers, all toting guns, forced their way into his home last Friday night, and one of the teens hit the elder Gasperi on the head twice with a gun.

“I saw two guns, I said, I saw two of them with two guns,” Lisa Gasperi said.

Gasperi, who suffered numerous lacerations and bruises, said tonight he was sore all over.

“I feel sore, sore all over,” he said.

Lisa Gasperi, who just got out of the hospital today, said she was traumatized by the incident.

The robbers got a small safe, and her cell phone. But, when they fled the home, they ended up being taken into custody.

Within an hour they were caught, after Connellsville Police tracked their footprints in the fresh snow. The suspects were aged 14, 16 and 17.

And, because they had weapons, at least two of the teens, now in a juvenile detention center, may face adult charges.
