Right about now – most of us are sooo ready for Spring.
When Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow earlier this month –
Predicting six more weeks of winter –
There were more than a few folks who started thinking –
“That groundhog would make a much better fur hat than a forecaster!”
It hasn’t been the coldest winter on record –
And there were no blizzards – yet.
But it’s been unrelenting.
It feels like we haven’t stopped shoveling snow –
Or salting icy sidewalks and driveways –
It’s been great for hardware store owners and private snowplow companies –
But even they are struggling to keep up with demand by now.
The endless cold means furnaces never quit.
That meant big heating bills.
For folks who are just barely making ends meet – it’s been too much.
It’s why The Dollar Energy Fund is so important.
It helps people stay warm when they’re having a tough time.
To those of you who helped raise over 300-thousand dollars during the recent KDKA Warmathon –
And those who add that dollar to your monthly electric or gas bill –
Thank you for doing a good thing.
It may not warm your toes while you’re shoveling –
But it certainly should warm your heart.
