Newsradio 1020 KDKA Editorial: Ask The Leaders
Bill Peduto has been mayor of Pittsburgh for about six weeks.
That's not a lot of time – given that it's a four-year term –
So there are still a lot of items on Peduto's "to do" list.
And it's way too soon to decide whether he's doing a good job or not.
But that doesn't mean there aren't some questions –
About things he's done –
And things he hasn't.
Peduto was the "mayor apparent" longer than he's been in office.
Some wonder why he didn't spend that time getting organized –
Selecting department heads and top staffers –
So he could roll out his new administration when he took the oath of office.
Instead – Peduto set up a Rube Goldberg process for choosing final candidates for many positions.
It hasn't prevented criticism of some of his picks –
And important jobs – like Public Safety Director and Police Chief – still aren't filled.
Now there's a chance to ask the mayor about what he's done –
What he plans to do – and when he plans to do it.
It's called "Ask the Leaders."
Once a month – starting this Thursday at noon –
Mayor Peduto - and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald - will be on KDKA Radio for an hour.
They will discuss issues and – more importantly –
Take calls and address your concerns.
You may not always like the answers – but at least you can ask the questions.
