Police Looking For Missing 77-Year-Old Man

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Wilkinburg police say a missing 77-year-old man from Braddock has been found in West Mifflin.

There were concerns about Donald Champion because he suffers from dementia, but he was found safe Saturday afternoon.

Police said that Champion had last been seen in Wilkinsburg waiting for a bus at the South Avenue bus station around 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

"He walked away from his residence on Lobinger Street in Braddock about 3:30 this morning, flagged down a passing motorist and asked her for a ride to the city. She drove him over and dropped him off at the South Avenue bus stop here in Wilkinsburg at about 4 o'clock this morning," said Rich Grande, of Wilkinsburg Police. "That was the last place he was known to be at."

Police say there has been one sighting of Champion.

"He was seen on security video in the GetGo-McDonald's area around 6 a.m. We think he may still be in the area walking around," said Grande. "He may try to approach somebody and ask somebody for a ride, which is what he initially did this morning."
