New Law Bans American Flags Made Overseas

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — It turns out, many American flags aren’t always very American.

CBS affiliate WDTV reports that a new law has been passed in order to ban foreign-made flags. Despite the fact that many companies selling flags are American, the flags themselves are often made in China.

But a new law requires American flags be 100 percent made in the land of apple pie and baseball — WDTV says the ink and fabric sometimes comes from other countries.

The banners at federal building and decorative flags are not affected by the law, however.
