TSA Plans To Close Pittsburgh Federal Air Marshal Service Office
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The government is planning to shut down the Federal Air Marshal Service Office here in Pittsburgh by next year.
Tampa, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Phoenix and San Diego's offices will also be closing.
Those behind the move say that it will not adversely impact security on flights arriving from and departing for the cities where these offices will close.
When the Federal Air Marshal Service Office closes next year, 80 jobs will move out of the area.
This is all stems from the TSA doing what it says is realigning the offices to offer greater security.
The 80 people who will lose their jobs in this area have reportedly been given the opportunity to relocate.
Rep. Tim Murphy has been trying to convince the TSA to keep the office open here since 2012.
