PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- NBC Sports NHL Analyst and former Penguins Head Coach Ed Olczyk joined The Cook and Poni Show Friday to talk about the Pens as they gear up for the stadium series Saturday night in Chicago.

“It’s supposed to be cold and snowy here tomorrow,” Olczyk said. “It’s not ideal, but both teams have to deal with it and it has been a big slam dunk for the NHL.”

Olczyk said the two team will be in the playoff mix again and could see each other much later, but he is not ready to predict it to be a preview of the Stanley Cup Finals Saturday night at Soldier Field, because of how the Pens have collapsed in the past few years.

“This has been the expected match up for the past 3-4 years,” Edzo said. “But the Pens have had some missed opportunities.”

Olczyk says this thing is wide open, especially because he said there are five or six teams that could all be in the mix in the west. He says in the east it’s the Pens and Bruins and not much else.
